Hello, my name is Melinda J. Matthews and welcome to my business profile. My passion has always been lending and helping my clients achieve financial success now and in the future.
You may know me already as a driven and reliable over 35-year banker with an extensive background in consumer and commercial lending. After 2 years of amazing retirement to spend more time with my family, I’ve decided that I have a lot of gas left in my tank and I have joined the amazing team of United Mortgage to continue my financial lending career for you. I absolutely love finding financial solutions for everyone.
As a Virginia and Florida native, I started my career in the late 1980’s in banking and have been a consumer and commercial banking lender since 1990. Always learning and teaching others in the financial world, I obtained my Banking and Finance degree through a Virginia community college while working full-time and raising 2 beautiful children. Later in my career, I furthered my education with a commercial lending diploma through VMA and graduated in 2014 Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management class through the University of Virginia, where I was treasurer of the class.
I navigated my career with several leadership roles to include treasury positions on non-profit boards, a 2 term President position on the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council, various maritime memberships in the Virginia area, founded community food drives for elementary schools as well as high school & economic development mentoring community work throughout my career. I love helping people know and understand money and how it works to improve their lives to obtain financial success.
Like you, money isn’t the only thing that makes me get up in the morning. I am a mother to 2 amazing grown and on their own children, a dog mom, long time car enthusiast and anything with motors, travel bug, I enjoy health and exercise, and spending time with my love, my friends and family.
